Canvas Outage Thursday 7th May 2026 14:40:00


Instructure is experiencing an issue affecting the platform, beginning around 1:40pm. Users are currently unable to access Canvas. Instructure is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Canvas Service Restored

Canvas access has been restored for OSU users following the outage involving Instructure, the vendor that operates Canvas. Users should now be able to log in and resume normal activity.

We have taken steps to validate the stability and security of the platform prior to restoring access. OSU will continue to monitor for any potential issues and remain vigilant as more information becomes available.

If you experience any problems accessing Canvas, please contact the Service Desk at beav.es/help or by calling 541‑737‑8787.

Canvas access will be restored for the OSU community by 4 PM. Users will be able to log in and resume activity as usual.

Canvas remains unavailable for OSU users as we validate the stability and security of the platform before re enabling access.

If users navigate to canvas.oregonstate.edu, the OSU login page may appear; however, sign-in is not available and users will receive an error message. Please do not attempt to log in until access has been restored.

We will share updates as access is restored.

Canvas remains unavailable for OSU faculty and students. Instructure has begun restoring services following the outage. To protect the OSU community, we are validating the security and stability of the platform before re-enabling access.

Some Canvas-generated emails may continue to be sent; users should not attempt to log in until access is restored.

As of 8:17pm, Instructure is reporting restoration of Canvas services. However, OSU is evaluating system stability, and OSU users remain unable to access Canvas at this time. We will provide another update in the morning of Friday, 5/8/2026.

Instructure posted a new update on their status page, https://status.instructure.com: Instructure has placed Canvas, Canvas Beta and Canvas Test in maintenance mode. We anticipate being up soon, and will provide updates as soon as possible.

Instructure, the vendor that operates Canvas, continues to experience a system outage.

This issue began around 1:40 PM, and users are currently unable to access Canvas. At this time, access is broadly unavailable.
